I’m Jonathan Merlevede, a consultant,
cloud-, data- and platform engineer based in Belgium. I help businesses optimize
their infrastructure and data solutions. At some point, I might find the time to

About This Website
I like to write sometimes. I also like the decentralized web. Instead of writing content (only) on Medium, I figured I should own my little piece of it. My aim is to write imperfect content here frequently. If posts become irrelevant or out-of-date, I will keep them around here but I will generally not go back and update them — my aim is to share what I learned, not to write documentation.
About Welwitschia
The Welwitschia is Namibia’s national plant. The plant is known for its resilience and longevity. It survives in harsh desert conditions for up to 2000 years. It has two leaves, but external forces shred them, changing the plant’s looks and making it appear to have many, its original shape no longer recognizable. For some reason, this made me think of my professional occupation — enterprise application and infrastructure development — resulting in Welwitschia also being the name of my company.
